If that was of maximum concern, though I wouldn't think critical on a 350hp street car there are some coatings that enhance heat transfer. Sadly they are usually black but some will show real measurable numbers over other coatings or raw metals.

That same argument could be made against polishing as it decreases surface area. How about sandblasting the nice diecast surfaces with agressive media to increase surface area...it would be a bee-otch to keep clean.

Ben,
How about a pre and post dyno session with the different ignition systems? We could take up a pool since I'd like to see the benefits at this level in the real world. Has your current SC dizzy been recurved for boost or is it stock? If it wasn't optimized, I guess the ignition change comparison would be flawed.

Luke I may do that..

THANKS GUYS. I can't wait to finish this project up.. I hope the pictures are helpful to anyone thinking of doing this

It’s too bad that most of what you see is hidden when its all back in the car, especially those heads :D

It really looks great, Ben. Consider buying a 600 lb lift table from pep boys or harbor freight - it really made my install a lot easier. Also, let us know when you need MS timing or fueling tables. Some of us who've gone before can get you idling and running more quickly than starting from scratch (right Hobieboy!). What size injectors are you using?

just 30# at the moment.. I will get it running off the dizzy and be using my VE tables from before I smoked the engine.. HobieBoy Is helping me with the ignition module for my MSI Version 2.2.. As soon as it is up and running I will dump the dizzy for the ignition set up and change the injectors and mess with that.. What injectors are you guys running??

mppickett 01-31-2007 12:57 PM

I'm running 50# injectors. No problem with idle. Here's a link to my specs and MegaSquirt info.

Thanks for posting that, Mike.

Ben:

Looks very, very nice. Great progress and thanks for all the posts.

I am so envious. I wish I had the money, time and technical skills to do this.

Thanks for all the input and a big thanks to Henry@supertec for his advise along with Chris@moto-delta for his suggestions as well..

Very tight. Looks so nice! But that is not an easy "barb" method for the oil drain. I don't weld aluminium! I thought you had a easily duplicatable drain idea, like bolt on, hello!

DW SD 02-01-2007 07:54 AM

I would suggest using hose clamps which won't cut into your oil return line, too. Aircraft or metric style seem to be less aggressive on the hoses. That said, maybe that beefy hose can take it.

Looks great!!

Doug

mb911 02-01-2007 07:58 AM

Yeah the hose is 25 bucks a foot and capable of something like 500 PSi with a teflon lining so I was not to concerned about cutting in I want it to grip really well..

Oh and branden you could easily duplicate this with barb fittings and or an fittings I just chose stainless with some rubber connections.. I was hoping the hose to be black when I ordered it but hey now it looks like a garden hose:confused:

DW SD 02-01-2007 08:02 AM

Green is cool! As long as it doesn't piss oil or water like a garden hose, no worries!!
McMaster has some nice SS aircraft grade hose clamps for pretty reasonable $. Although you probably have access to that in your backyard with the aircraft folks.
Good luck! Looking like an engine! Are you going to fab an IC as part of this project, too?

Doug
