gonna see some flames?
instead of putting the bumper rubber back on, fab of an outlet right there with some S.S. surrounding it....be a neat little surprise for anyone attempting to rub ya out. |
Nice Caliper color Ben:)
|
I don't know, Denny. Ben's car is getting a little flashy with orange, blue and green hoses. Now I know why he went machine grey on the pc or we'd just nickname him Bling.
Seriously, I first thought the engine might be too industrial on the stand, but offset with the black coupe it looks spectacular. I couldn't show as much restraint and I'm having Jerry do mine in "smoke chrome". Hey guys don't like my 18's either so there you have it :D The only things chrome on the car are the horn grills, door handles and window trim though. |

Think souped up bug sleeper(I hate that term) but really sleeper is the my thing
|
Ben,
Any updates? Are you on the road again? Doug |
Doug,
We're in the midwest..its like 10 degrees over here. I know you south CA guys forget we have real winters :D |
Not yet but I am finishing some stuff up right now. I had to get side tracked with my daily driver (ford expedition) it keeps spitting the rocker out from underneath the cam so I have been messing with that over the past week:(
|
Ben, how long before we have the ability to buy the complete low boost 'kit' from you? About how much should I expect to spend?
Yes, the weather here has been crappy, typical for Wisconsin in the winter. Wouldn't be so bad but for the incredible amount of salt they dump on the roads... Where are the green weenies when you really need 'em??? Sorry if I missed this info earlier... Thanks. Eric |

Yes, I forgot!! It rained here one day over the weekend, if that is any consolation. Norcal has been getting blasted, but we only got one day of rain. Chilly is below 50 here at night and below 60 during the day. Not rubbing it in, but it is reality. Good luck Ben! I too forget that nobody drives Hondas or Toyotas in the midwest, so their daily drivers have trouble. I'm always amazed at the lack of foreign cars when I visit my Grandmother in Northern Michigan. (outside of Grand Rapids). Doug |
great work Ben, got any pics of the sump plate on its own showing the welded on tube?
thanks |

1st drive in it today.. It goes thats all I can say. boost comes one at very low RPMs. I am trying to stay off of it as much as possible before its broken in..
|
updates???
how is she doing? |
|
She looks great, however, I doubt you'll keep her that clean with all the snow melting. Congratulations. How's she running?
|
very nicely.. No I just had to move it to the other garage so no driving today
|
Looks GREAT! Yowser!
Will you be redoing the bracketing at some point? It would be cool to change out those brackets dead center in front with some hime joint compression rods. They would ensure no induced bending moments on the brackets. Looks like the bracket on the fan house could be gussetted too. Hope the comments are positively received. I know you've been under the gun with a lot of stuff, including my projects :-) Thanks again - by the way!! Look forward to more analysis of your HP increases, be it seat of the pants or other. Doug |
Hey no problem.. Not really sure what I want for brackets yet these are temp but they do the job.. Thanks for the feedback.. I will work on that T for you this weekend
|
just wanted to give impressions of the initial drives etc. This car is completly transformed from before. The combo works perfect for my low boost application. It runs great off of boost and incredible on boost. Only got about 300 miles on it but so far I am very happy. One thing to note. The JE pistons do NOT slap like so many say they do on warm up. They work very well.
|
Ben,
I have HEAT! Pictures to follow on the old heat / exhaust thread for 3.6s. Thank you. The T is not installed, yet. I'm used to working on a lift and not on the ground. Congrats on your motor success. Doug |
cool glad you have heat! I saw that you called last week I called you back and left a VM.. Any how happy with all the help and final product
|
Why would you need heat?
|
oh yeah changed the green hose out for black one guys:D
|
Just got wind of this thread, Nice work! Your welder is very talented ;)
BTW, what kind of boost were you running when the piston(s) went bye bye? |
boost= was default of the wastegate as the line melted between the WG and the turbo pressure pipe. So I would guess closer to 1+ bar
|
Hi Ben,
Well, its summer time! Any updates? Have you open it up yet? More pics, more pics.... Thanks John |
yes Opened it up plenty of times. it runs wonderful.. Very happy with off boost control just don't want to grenade the tranny at this point
|

I'm interested in my 3.0 looking like this or should i just get a 3.2? |
The 3.0 was a great engine for me just to much CR and not strong enough pistons for the horse pressure in defualt mode. Frank There was 3.2 intake for about 500 complete in the classifieds today I think and then megasquirt it and it can look very close to this..
911 tweaks email me we can talk about your needs |
Thanks for the advice ben I'll check it out and thanks for the quote too
