just giving and update still running wellSmileWavy
|
Some day, mine will too, and I am getting closer each day. Hopefully before the first snow flake drops.
Can't wait! |
Ben, how did the dizzy work out for you?
|
it works great. Infact I need to bring it up to your suggested 10 degrees advance at idle. it is still about 6-7 right now..
|
Well got 1700 miles on this year Dumped the oil last night the oil was still Pink (amsoil 20w50 racing) No chunks so Very happy with the car .. Next year in spring do a dyno run and tune for a bit more boost while running the new twin plug ignition. Shooting for 350 at the wheels
|
It's spring now ... any news with the dyno run?
|
IIRC Jerry got 326 Hp to the rear wheels using Ben's set up. This was in February.

Phil hows yours running |
Still running great...however since buying the GT3 the white car doesn't see nearly as much road time. Once things cool off down here again It'll get driven more.

This car now needs an electronically controlled water fogger to get that boost up even higher! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-engine-rebuilding-forum/416128-water-injection-high-compression-naturally-aspirated.html This link is for NA applications, but there is great turbo info. |
Ben...just read the whole thread. That is a b@dass engine. Exactly what I would do, right down to the grey. (Then again, it's apparent I have a thing for grey...)
I'll bet it rips on the street. Nice job, and beautiful exhaust! |
Ben,
How do you like the Amsoil 20W50 racing oil? I've been using it over a year now and I really like it. My engine temps dropped 10 degrees after changing from Castrol to Amsoil, but I also swapped the CIS for Webers, so that accounts for some of the temp drop. |

to be honest I can't really tell but I have always ran mobil 1 or amsoil so it runs about the same |

I like the equal length primary tubes at what should be the right size for the best pre boost torque and much more even heat level at the exhaust ports. For me I would add a split dedicated secondary tubes all the way to a split scroll turbo if not already done. Looks like a best of class set up. If I do another turbo (78 & 91), I will come a calling. Not an expert, just what I like. |
Hi Ben,
Was reading your thread, wow what a big jump from the early days of muffler fab; nice work!! One thing I'm surprised you don't have on the secondary pipes; no expansion bellows. When the headers get red hot, wouldn't you want some expansion provision?? Regards, JP |
I was thinking about doing a twin scroll next with dual wastegates. Not right now as with the economy in a major down turn I just drive it and enjoy but you are spot on. This thing pulls from approx 3000 rpm to redline with no drop off the turbo though is a bit large for the boost levels I run (.5 bar) but with the ssi's I get great off boost performance
Jp I had though about the bellows but I also figured I knew someone whom welds;) so if it cracked I could fix it easily. So far its has worked well. I would have to check but I think I have about 6,000 miles on it and has worked well |
Dual wast gates would make this the near perfect street turbo set up.
I am suspect of the wast-gate circuit design that B&B and others use. I think there are potential issues with them. First I believe they trick the WG into delivering a bit higher level of boost than stock. Not sure if it is the way it connects to the header system or the length of the tube to it. I also suspect that with many of us running small hot sides and larger compressor wheels trying for earlier boost onset and for more efficient top end. The by product being the WG circuit has to flow more than it was originally sized for. This can create boost creep and the big bang if one dose not have an over boost shut off switch. This could be a solid product for you. The Turbo guys are used to spending big dollars to feed there addiction. Keep up the good work. |

I agree but I need to secure 930 here for a 100% stock bolt up situation then do the dual waste gate setup. I may sell the back half of what I have to finance the DWG setup? |
Why did you increase the oil pump by 30%? What did Henry do specifically?
