Cylinder Head Gasket Orientation ? flat/round
Ive pulled away my Heads from the cylinders tonight on my 2.4 because of a couple of Leaks coming between them.
I noticed that the a couple of Springs on the Cylinder Head Gasket (that sit on Top of the Cyliynders) had busted apart. The springs were completely apart and oil bypassing ! What would cause this, ? I also noticed on the New ones that these have a Flat side and a Round side What is the Correct Orientation for Assembly? Flat Side Down on the Cylinder ? ? ? (im guessing)

It is not necessary to keep bumping your thread to the top of the page when it is only five or six threads down from the top.

I do it the way that you described and I haven't had any problems.
Keep in mind that I've built dozens of engines, not hundreds or thousands like some of the guys around here. |

Less brakes, more gas!

My guess, and it is a guess, would be flat side up against the head. I used to design similar metalic seals, but they were always symmetrical so it did not matter which way they were placed in the receiving channel. I say flat side up as that would be the leading edge and you may wish to have more sealing surface there, but I suspect it may not matter... Was there no spec sheet in the box?
I'll be interested to here the experts chime in. Best regards, Michael
