Piston ID
How can you ID 9.8:1 SC pistons? Does anyone have any pics of them? Do they look different form the other CR pistons?
Steve

Yes, but not easily, as they look about the same.
Here is a picture someone posted on this very site end of August comparing Euro and US 3.2 pistons. I think the SC differences are similarly hard to spot. ![]() Maybe someone has photos of the SCs. All I have at hand are some 9.3 Alusils. Walt |

the ones still in the engine in the pics are in an '82 930/10. I have 3 good 9.8 pistons if you're looking. the other three have broken ring lands. 9.8:1 compression plus lousy gas equals detonation. hmm, go figure. I'll be putting in 8.5 pistons. it's a daily driver. let's see a pic of what you've got? Don.

The best way to confirm the CR of the OEM Mahle pistons is to look for the Mahle P/N designation inside the piston.
93L7 = USA 8.5 CR 95L67 = ROW 9.3 CR 95L70 = Euro 9.8 CR

If you still have the damaged ones I have a good use for them if you wouldnt mind parting with one or two? For shipping plus something for your time to post them?
