Andial Twin plug conversion for SC

Anyone done a twin plug conversion on an sc motor with the Andial distributor kit??

What kind of cost AM I looking at for the andial kit??

Matt,

The Andial kit is primarily for Motronic-equipped cars.

There are three ways to install twin-ignition on an SC:

1) Use 3.6 dual-distributor modified with an SC internal trigger. The crank gear muste be changed to the 3.6 one

2) Install an RSR type distributor. These are available in CCW versions so the crank gear doesn't have to be changed.

3) Install a distributor-less, coil pack system. I don't recommend this option but its cheap.

Another option. Perhaps the best aftermarket distributor available.

Are you talking about taking an SC dist. and modifying it to use the Andial cap adapter and twin plug rotor? If so, and Steve can easily correct me, the dist. shaft needs to be machined and then you need the adapter. You may also need to have it re-curved to suit your application. After that you need to get twin sparks requiring, and this is where my knowledge runs thin, two CDI's and coils or equivalent.

Old school, it worded ok but why use a stone age option when Supertec makes a piece of art for a few pennies more.
These are available for all 911 engine configurations including early cases.

I thought the benefit of the coil pack systems was that they could throw a lot of specifically timed voltage at the plugs? If this were so, couldn't you widen the gaps?

edit - I think aesthetically, the 12 plug distributers are beautiful. I only ask. . . to find out the answer!

Kenik is corrrrrrect,....

Their performance capabilites are wildly oversold and they do not measure up on MFI or carbureted engines where fuel mixtures are less than ideal. Further, they cannot support the wide plug gaps necessary for best drivability and power.

That's interesting to know. Are there any applications where they would be a good fit? What about a non carb'd or MFI motor?

If you have a cap and rotor our GenII dist. (custom built to suit your engine) would cost you $ 1770.
If you have a rebuildable 3.0 or equivalent dist. take off another $200.

Not the cheapest but what great option ever is?

hi henry, yes the twin Plug is "THE OPTION" for 911, but the price for various sistems (non original Magneti Marelli or Bosch) range 1500/3000 USD

Not to detract from the Supertec dizzy in any way, what-so-ever, as you can't go wrong with it, but JB Racing also has a dizzy. I throw it out there just so that all of your options are in one place. Here is my thread in the turbo forum, with some pictures:
