looks like the oil pump pick up...
question is how did it become separated from the oil pump? The pick up tube epoxies into the oil pump.... have seen a few that have been knocked loose...

The second piece is part of the update screen circa 1980 that the pickup sits into.Replaced the screen filter of the earlier years. The update helped maintain oil pickup in hard corners

To access the oil pump, you need to split the case.

That is the scavenge pickup for the oil pump, if that fell off while running all the oil ended up in the engine and starved it with nothing in the tank, the scavenge side of the pump's job is to pull the oil that has been thru the engine and put it back in the tank. I have seen those loosen up where they are glued in but the way it fits into the screen kind of holds it from "falling out" when you drop the sump plate and screen its possible to silp it out of the pump if the epoxy is free. did you find metal in the engine, noise, hi oil temp ?

Split the case, have the components visually inspected, measured for tolerance.. If the oil pump is still good... you can epoxie the pick up back into the oil pump housing...replace all the worn components... etc...

I would take the engine apart and hopefully it can be rebuilt, putting the pump pickup back in place and starting it just to confirm its hurt bad might not leave you much more than the heads and valve covers, Just be sure to flush and clean the entire oil system, tank,front cooler,lines all of it before the new/repaired engine starts, toss or ultrasonicly clean the engine oil cooler. The last time I saw that pipe on it's own was after it had fallen out, run through the engine and broken a timing chain.
It was very expensive to repair.
