I am entertaining the idea of running a 2.4 cis engine in my car, but would need to cut to fit the injection system... I don't wanna cut (og 914-6), so I am thinking about getting the domed, carb pistons and changing the engine over to Carburetors.
1. What pistons/barrels would be best for this (performance/cost efficient) 2. Where would I find a good set. 3. Anything else I would be better off learning now, instead of trying this and failing for some dumbass reason that I know I will overlook? Thanks in advance for your help ![]()

I'll suggest converting to E spec
1. 2.2E P&C set 2. E cams 3. Weber 40 IDA's 4. 2.2T heads Should be a fun, driveable motor that won't break the bank.

I have weber 40s off of my 2.8,
I have the heads off my 2.8, and the "s" cams too. The "s" cam is the Bigger of the two different types. What is the diameter of the pistons in the stock CIS engine?

The stock CIS piston and barrels are 84mm. This is the same as all 2.2 and 2.4 stock Porsche 911 motors.

Tom,
Do you know if the heads off of my 2.8 will work for the 2.2 conversion on the 2.4 I got right now? I am trying to spend as little $$$ as I can, as I really have not much... ![]()

It really depends on the port and valve sizes you have on your 2.8 heads. If they are really RSR spec heads, you can sell them, buy 2.2T heads, have them rebuilt and still come out ahead. The true RSR spec heads need a high flow system which would include more aggressive cams and bigger carb size. You need some expert advice to build this motor. Don't plan on just slapping a bunch of parts together and expect to be happy with the results.

Haha,
Thanks Tom The 2.8 heads are well worked. Porting, decked for hi-comp, and I have very aggressive "s" cams. These "s" cams are the bigger of the two types of "s" cams. They are mean. I was hoping to take the 2.4 apart, and utilize all the HP stuff from the 2.8, but in the 2.4. I don't know if the heads, Carbs, Cams, or even the 2.2 pistons fit, so I will need to figure it out. The piston/Cyl set that you have would be nice to get, and see if the motor will go back together as a screamin 2.2... Still figuring out my path, and it seems that it will be quite a while before I figure it all out.... Guh... I'm learning though... ![]()
