Cranshaft plugs
Once you have removed the plugs from the crank, what do you replace the plugs with? I have seen posts that even suggest threading and plugging. What size plug do you use? Looks like the depth of the plug can be an issue blocking the rod passage.

You may be able to buy them from Ollies in Lake Havasu or make them your self.

Yes, only you knock them in with Loctitie and a driver. I think about .001 interference

Tapping is possible, but the friend who did that said it was difficult as the crank steel is so hard. I think he broke/ran through a lot of taps.
I'd think you'd want to loctite in whatever you screwed in, and maybe also pein the edge of the hole a little when done, just in case. Assuming it can be peined. |

I had a local shop thread and plug my crank, this shop does this to the cranks when the plugs are pulled. Although they never did this to a Porsche cranks until mine, I advised them that they would need a new tap for each hole as they found out after braking there tap, it added about $70 to the job. They also used red loctite on the plugs. I voiced my concern about the plugs backing out, he told me that they never had one back out.
