getting to a 2.4E engine
i may have the choice of starting with a 2.2T-carb, a 2.2E-MFI or a 2.4T-MFI engine, but want to get to a 2.4E as my final destination. if assuming all 3 engines were in same good condition, (which i'm sure they aren't
![]() I would guess the 2.2E, which will need just a 2.4/2.7 crank to make it a 2.4 ?? alternatively, what is the frankenstern of placing E cams in a 2.4T? ooh, a little knowledge is indeed a dangerous thing thanks

Well, the 2.2E MFI engine seems to be nearest to your target. I recently took a 2.4T engine, had the MFI pump rebuilt to E spec ( Gus, Pacific Injection ), had the T throttle bodies re-built to E spec ( Matt, Eurometrix ), replaced the T cams with E cams, Had the cylinders bored to 85mm ( ebs ), installed J&E pistons 9:5.1 ( ebs )and finally installed MSD.
With the 2.2E engine, you've already have the cams & MFI needed. However, you'll probably need to refurbish the TB's & Pump anyway. I don't know, probably a better ? for a professional early engine builder. Also, the 2.2E has E numbers on it's case. Steve 73 911T MFI Coupe, Aubergine |

The 2.4T will also have the lowest compression pistons. No doubt, go for the 2.2E.
