2.4 CIS Flavored
Hi, I may be looking at a top end rebuild for the very stock 2.4 CIS in my #'s matching 73.5. I am looking for info to maybe "warm her up a bit" if I can get maybe 30hp more with the same drive ability, keeping a low budget and the CIS... I know this maybe asking a bit much but....

About the best thing to do is put a set of CIS S cams, that wouldnt be 30 horses though. The 2.4 is very limited to keep the exterior of the engine looking stock.

Some mild port work would help, but good work is never cheap - perfect time to do it, though.
What exhaust are you currently using?

Stock exhaust...
The car is totally stock The 73.5 CIS has a different spec fuel distributor and the intake tubes are smaller In production 6 month only stuff....

You want to keep the stock visual and there is little you can do without spending doses of money. The engine is most valuable in stock form thats why I mentioned the cams which are inexpensive.

Leave everything exactly the same, except have the crankcase opened up for 2.7 cylinders. Run Dilavar studs (don't bother with timeserts, your crankcase is still a virgin) and run the 2.7S Mahle pistons and cylinders. I did this on my old 2.4 CIS, and I loved the results. Lots of low end torque, decent gas mileage and not ridiculously expensive, at least in Porsche terms.
