SC cams - A direct fit for 930 engine?
I am in the process of sourcing all the parts to perform a top end rebuild on my C2T 3.3 engine. AFAIK this engine is the same as all the previous 930 engines.
Will SC cams go in with no other mechanical changes required? Do I need to upgrade the springs and retainers if I am staying below 7k rpm? Do most people buy new factory SC cams for these projects or just source a good used set? I don't want aftermarket reground cams! ![]() |

You need to fit a drive thingy for the Turbo scavenge pump. I have heard some people use the air-injectioon pump attachment if they are not using smog control equipment.

Web Cam Inc. - Performance and Racing Camshafts will grind you cams on new billets or hardweld your cam and regrind it. A friend of mine got a 964 grind on a new billet from them for his 930 and it works great.
It's best to call and talk to Laurie the owner about that. Dougherty Racing Cams Porsche 911, 930 and 964 camshaft profiles probably does it too but I don't know. |

Whatever. The 1964 XLH rear intake cam I had built up and reground in 1982 (factory used to use an XL grind in that location "to make it easier to start" - wow. Just wow.) is still fine, as are the 930 cams Mr. Dougherty re-ground to SC profile for the PO. Dunno the exact mileage - but I've put in excess of 30,000 miles on those in 4 years.

Also talk to Dimitri over at Elgin Camshaft or Neil at Performance Developments. These guys will not just sell you a camshaft but will work personally with your engine layout to provide the best possible solution for your particular driving style. They both provide alterations in camshaft grinds instead of just the SC or 964 style grinds that most here jump on.
