If the original application was for a nikasil cylinder then yes JE supplies rings that are compatible. Often, if the size is a stock bore, then they source the original rings. Non-stock bores they source from other makes that run nikasil.

Hi Aaron... does that mean all JE Pistons that come with rings (regardless of make) are Nikasil compatible?... about to purchase a new set of Pistons, is there any Rings that are better performing than others?

JE rings are Hastings more than likely you can run any material against the Nikasil lining as it is so darn hard. The disaster if it were to occur would be in a soft bore such as Alusil which requires chrome moly alloy. General rule is softer with Nikasil harder with Alusil.

Why would you want to run anything other than the Goeteze, factory rings that run with nikisil?

The last time I purchased from JE they supplied GOETZE rings for 95mm nikasil applications.

Steve, Make sure you state that you are using nikasil when you purchase your pistons and you will be supplied the appropriate rings.

There are many situations where you cannot use them. Non stock bore sizes and thinner ring packs require rings from other sources. There are plenty of engines that run Nikasil now.

No, It's not a one size fits all.

Just call the tech line if you have questions the company you are purchasing from cannot answer your questions.

the last 2 posts before this one are right on.

if you ask here you get a bunch of variable opinions that will only confuse the issue.

ask a JE technician this question if you want a single accurate answer.

I spoke with Jerry Rauch and he was very helpful. I ordered a set of 98mm Nickies and JE pistons with an NPR ring pak as I thought they might be better than Goetze with regards to sustaining a little detonation. The Goetze seem to be too brittle.
They are compatible with nickasil.

I've use Mahle Racing rings with JE's in 3.4L (3.2 bored out). No complaints.
