piston pin circlip replacement
So I'm short on circlips, Didn't get any from our host for whatever reason...
And I want to procede. I just bought some 7/8 piston retainers from pepboys that look to be the right size to fit in there. Theyre flat, not round, and have little circle/holes on the end of each side(youve seen them) for installing/removing with a tool. Can anyone tell me not to instal these for a good reason? I really want to move forward without waiting another 4 days. Total cost for a crapload $7.50 and I have a reciept so I'll take them back. Thanks, BA |

how much is your rebuild? Mine was 12k. based on this huge investment, I would not use circlips that do not fit as intended to save 4 days. its a corner cut that just isnt worth it.

Square snap ring in a round ring groove ... not a good idea.

It pays to be patient. How dumb would you feel while your are taking it all back apart to fix it again if they did not stay in there?
If there is one lesson I have learned in all my years of wrenching,... it is always easier and faster to do it right the first time.

So whats with many now using the spiral circle clips (spirolox) now a days. We have used these at work on clutches for years but now see them working there way in as pistons clips. They are an amazing clip and very easy to install and remove.

I agree, it will not fully seat in the groove.

Call Don at EBS for the clips. Get the install tool from Stomski Racing.
