Wiring elimination
It is amazing how much information this forum has accumulated over the years. There is nothing that was not covered at least a few times , by different Pelicans.
I learned in 2 days of searching that a few wires on the engine harness can be eliminated ( folded over and taped in ). |

Test panel
I plan to run the engine on a test stand to look for oil leaks , set the timing , and make sure the Zeniths are set up correctly. Will also do oil changes every 5-10 min.
The Zeniths are a whole story on their own. ![]() |

Oil tank
Oil tank cleaned by radiator shop , rinsed with Seafoam and petrol , and then with alcohol. Cleaner on the inside than outside - needs a coat of paint.

Pelican forums
Oil tank got a new coat.
I am sure the real stats are available , but my guess is that 95% of the readers of the Pelican forums are people like me. Always wanted to do this , but never had the opportunity or time. Or people that will get involved in a build one day. Starting my build , I realized that it will not be easy , cost more that my worst case scenario , and be a positive learning experience. This is a journey , not a destination - thanks Steve Tyler. Most builds are done by amateurs in their free time. Many of those free hours used to drink a few cold ones just looking at the slow progress. I am one of them , and love it. ![]() |

Great job. Can't wait to see it run on your test stand!

At my pace hope to have the engine running on the stand before the end of the Mayan calender.

Weber and Zenith carbs use the same linkage. Looks like you have the right parts.. Hard to tell from the pictures what the problem is.

Here are some pics of a Zenith setup in your area of concern. There is a very tight fit fit between the drop link and the accelerator pump linkage. Hope this helps. RHS ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() LHS ![]()

Comparing your pic to Tom's, it looks like this piece is on backward, but maybe it's just he camera angles.
