Henry,

Beautiful work! The attention to detail you apply to your engine builds is awe-inspiring. I'm thoroughly impressed!

Henry,

Thanks for your clear description about the copper sealing rings. This puzzled me for awhile but I understand perfectly now. Your engine work is very impressive and I really appreciate learning from the masters on this forum.

A different question (about heads and porting) linked to this old thread.
Strangely enough, this car is back in the shop. It seems that some sort of breather catch tank is needed at higher rpm and this gem will run there.

I noticed that the engine oil cooler has a screw on fitting? Older cooler or modified?

Thanks,

The engine was installed in a 67 SWB car so the cooler was installed to fit the chassis. It is indeed an early 911 cooler.

I am considering using the old style cooler on my 3,0 build. Is there a difference in cooling capacity? Or is it just the return tube on the bottom of the cooler that is different?

Interesting to find this thread so near the top. I just bought a car that might have something similar. I'm going to assume that there's no way to verify anything, like cam profile, or piston choice, or even being sure of the crank without tearing down the engine?

It's a weird on. 3.2 case in a '74 chassis. Advertised as a 3.0 and on CIS with single plug. Anything I can look for with it in car to give me more ideas of what the build might be? I'll dyno the car once I get it and would like to convert it to weber Idas. But if the cams are CIS cams I might want to crack into the top end first.

There are very few things you can easily do to ascertain the true specs of an engine without specialty tools. Twist it up and if you like the character it displays, you're golden.

Thanks Henry. That's kind of what I expected but figured better to ask than assume. I've got the parts piling up to build a little 2.5 mag engine, so once that's done I could swap positions on them and take a closer look at the 3.2 with it on the bench.
