964 Engine Build Torque Specs

Hi All,

Does anyone have the factory torque specs and torque sequence for 1992 964 engine assembly?

I need:
1. Case through bolt torque sequence and Nm.
2. Cylinder torque sequence and Nm.
3. Head torque sequence and Nm.
4. Any other torque specs that I'm don't know about yet.

I have Wayne Dempsey's rebuild book and the 964 book, but can't locate the torque specs for my engine rebuild.

Thank you,
Denis

Linking is not cool, but if you google "porsche workshop manual" I believe you will find what you are looking for.

I recently acquired from a friend the Bentley "Without Guesswork" 964 Technical Manual for reading enjoyment (i'm a Porsche nerd like that....) . So take that for what it's worth- NOT the factory Porsche manual.

Case thru bolt sequence would be same as Wayne's rebuild book- tighten from center outward in a diagonal crisscross pattern. Torque is 37 ft-lb

The head and cylinder tightening depends on what head studs you use. Factory numbers for the regular 964 were 15 ft-lb stage 1 and then 90 degree (1/4 turn) after that. Sequence doesn't matter IMO but diagrams show middle cylinder crisscross, then rearward (pulley) cylinder, then forward (flywheel) cylinder.

I'd recommend getting the Bentley 964 tech reference. Good information in there. But certainly no substitute for the factory manual.
