The barrels look to be Carrera. What does it say inside the piston?

3.0L turbo application? Meaning, 3.0L 930 engine (1975-1977), not a 3.0L SC turbo conversion. But maybe that could be it too. Reason I say turbo is because those flat top pistons are going to be low compression.

The 76/77 turbo used a sealing CE ring and I dont think they had that much of valve wink.
Really need the number inside the piston, like 95L67 and that would tell us if its a Mahle and application.

If we could see the inside of the piston it might tells us more.
Your Ruff idea is a good one except I don't believe Ruff build a 95mm turbo.
My guess is a 935/ IMSA 962 piston in a 3.2 Carrera cylinder.

If you'd like I'll take one over to Gunnar Porsche and show it to Kevin. If it's a 935 or 962 piston he'll know.
They should be back from the Monterey historics soon.
I'm curious what they are too.

The squiggly line is for "toward the flywheel" because the winks are so close to the same size.
1 represents the size, should be on the barrel too along with delta deck height.
Cylinder is a standard Mahle

The cooling holes add to my to belief that this is a racing piston.
The "squiggly line" (this way towards the flywheel) is there to tell you that the wrist pin is offset.
