# 8 nose bearing - Difference?
Looking at our host's offereing, I saw:
901-101-138-03-M157 Number 8 Nose Bearing, 911 (1965-73), standard Brand: German - $194.00 901-101-138-03-OEM Number 8 Nose Bearing, 911 (1965-73), standard Brand: Genuine Porsche $142.00 What's the difference in the two. And why is the Porsche price less than aftermarket? Is there something about the more pricey version? Just wondering as I probably should replace mine while I'm having the case worked over by Ollies.

The M157 is Glyco aftermarket. The OEM is Geniune Porsche in a Porsche box, supplied by Glyco. Theory is the Genuine one is the better one because it's gone thru Porsche's QA/QC. This theory has been proved to be true in years past when the Glyco aftermarket stuff was not looking so good.
If you can get a Genuine cheaper than aftermarket, jump all over that. Because it's typically the other way around. For instance the genuine main bearings (STD) for my 3.0L are about $600 vs. the $200 for Glyco aftermarket!
