ITBīs for MFI
I am planning to convert my 3.0 rally engine from Carbs to MFI. Now I am searching companys producing ITBīs. I know PMO, but I donīt like that they donīt have equal/straight intakes. I also know Jenvey. But thatīs it.
Our racing rules say I need 50 mm, right now I am running 46 webers, so I think 50 is to big, but these are the FIA rules... Does anyone knows other brands? Thank you very much, Malte |

Borla-TWM Induction - Throttle Bodies (423) 979-4045
You might check out the 3006 series for straight intakes. regards, Al

Try not, Do or Do not

We recently build this system for my wide bodied project.
I uses an adapter block for the injector on a Carrera head (no machine work), 40mm port size, 42mm butterfly and adapters to install custom build RSR slide valve stacks with air cleaners. ![]() ![]()

Hello Al and Henry,
thank you very much for your answers. From what I see at your link Al is that the linkage will not work with the injection pump, but I sent them an email. Henry your setup looks ver y nice and clean, but the problem I have is that I must have 50 mm throttles and I think that is not possible with the original butterflys..?! |

Malte - which (of the many) FIA rules are you building to? Mandating a minimum throttle bore seems a bit unusual - typically intakes and ports and headers and the like have a maximum (or require a restrictor plate or the like).
I don't think 50 is necessarily too large for a 3.0 race motor. Porsche ran the 46s on their 2.0 race motors! Lots of guys swear by the PMO 50 carbs. Me, I'd call Borla. The guy who was TWM works there now (or did), and knows a lot. He's the guy they directed my call to a couple of years ago when I wanted a to buy their vacuum modulated fuel pressure regulator for my EFI system. They might be able to come up with a linkage which would work if their regular stuff won't. But their throttle bodies are cut for electronic injectors, not MFI. Maybe there is a way to change that too. Though I deduce you probably aren't on this continent, so that might be a little tricky. |

Hello Walt,
yes you are right, I am from germany. But in the end this is not such a big problem. It only become critical for me when I donīt write mails, but have to phone and donīt have my dictionary near me. haha Regarding the FIA homologation... It is B-207. This season our organisation said that fuel delivery must be close to what was available in the year, so you could also run carbs, but for next season they changed 100% to what the FIA says and this is the 50 mm... I am in contact with Borla, letīs see if they have or can make anything. Thank you! |

Malte - B-207 is the FIA homologation number from 1982 for the 3.0 SCRS, isn't it?
What I was wondering was what racing series today has this slightly unusual requirement that you must have as large an intake as was allowed under the homologation? Is this a vintage series? Did the SCRS have 50mm intakes? Wow. A friend has one, but looking it over is as close as I have come to knowing anything about it in detail. If your racing series says as homologated, I guess that explains the MFI as well. |
