Stainless Nylock Perimeter nuts and washers

Any reason not to use SS hardware on perimeter nuts, and case accessory hardware?

My understanding is that stainless hardware tends to be weaker, gall and when mixed with aluminum, corrodes. But other than that, it's great. ;-)

Google "stainless fasteners weaker"

I think that this is a great question to ask of the technical experts at some of the fastener companies such as Fastenal. I have received detailed answers to some of the strange questions that I have e-mailed in to the technical experts at a couple of the oil companies, so I have to believe that the nuts and bolt companies would also also be as helpful.

Not high stress area? No problem (case covers, shroud, intake, accessory mounts, etc.). Use self-locking Nylok-type for nuts.

For areas related to stress, use factory, equivalent or better fasteners.

Disregard this for concours-types.

During or after 87 model year the factory used prevailing torque nuts on the center line.

I have decided to use them just for checking case bores and test assembly. I will order new factory for the build.

But they do look nice
