Started my 3.2L engine rebuild. Upgrading to a 3.4L with a set of Mahle pistons and cylinders. Keeping the Motronic Injection. I'll be restoring the 3.2L Fuel and Intake System while the engine gets rebuilt. Started with disassembly and a bunch of photo's

Decided to rebuild the fuel lines by plating the original fittings and using my friends Cohline hose crimper.
We used Cohline hose

I didn't like the look of the original fuel injection harness. The tan/gray wire wrap always seemed an odd choice.
![]() I bought some black heat shrink tubing and some new Bosch connectors and set about rebuilding the harness. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Super nice work on the hoses. And I like the wiring harness too. I will be needing a few Bosch connectors, can you tell me you sourced them? Thanks

For the short hose from the fuel damper to fuel return line; I would purchase either a Porsche hose or one from Griffiths. The hose is pre formed with the bend and you will likely get a kink trying to install it.
I’m sure your doing it already but rebuild the venturi for the brake booster; just a few O-rings inside of it. Also replace the brake booster hose that goes between the engine and tunnel while the engine is out. I did everything you are a few years ago; also did the same 3.4L build.

Techno Duck- Great advice! I tried the short hose and you're right! It definitely kinks. Luckily, I had anticipated this and had purchased a Griffith line. I'm putting the 3.4 into a 1975 911 and won't be using a brake booster. I'm just going to cap the vacuum lines.

Decided to shave the tabs and unneeded mounts off the intakes. I'm eliminating the blower by backdating the heat. I'm also relocating the sensor bracket.

I just did mine and I cheated. Instead of doing a 90 turn with that hose I did a 270 with the hose instead. It allowed me to keep a bigger radius and not kink. I have yet to really test it out.

Degreased washed and sanded the engine shroud in preparation of painting. Here it is getting a final rinse off.
![]() Final cleaning with Prep-Spray ![]() Painted it with Semi-Gloss Black Engine Enamel. Light first and second coats with 10 minute dry times. Medium/wet Third and Forth coats with 10 minute dry times. Looking to match the black powder coat on the backdated heat ducts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice work! How about a picture of the 75? Still have it's narrowbody? I'm putting a 3.2 in my 75 as well, but with an ITB intake. You made the stock intake look fantastic.
Does it have the stock manual brakes and original calipers? Gotta keep this car light if you want it to stop. :-)

Outstanding post! can you detail the ‘shot peening’ Process - the medium used and any other techniques necessary to achieve this great result.
Thanks! |

Hi... sorry to ask this but, can you tell me where I can find those 2 side heater vents you have?
Do you have a part# for each? I was going to backdate my 3.2 with those, but I'm having problems locating them.
