Is a 3.6 as robust as a 3.2/930 for big turbo power?
Always wondered how much power a 3.6 can take with stock rods and crank (head studs?) barring you stay at the OEM redline.
On a side note, I have a 3.2 converted to 3.4 (est. 600+hp), but long sometimes for a really big bore engine nudging close to or at 4.0. Is this super exotic or the same as going from 3.2 to 3.4? Just P's & C's? Will a stock 3.6 and up take around 2 bar of boost if one chooses, or will the cylinders be hand grenades at this point? Really curious. TIA. ![]() |

Hi Tippy,
Guess you are decreasing the CR? A friend here in Norway build a 3.3 or 3.4 out of a NA 3.6 by installing a 3.0 crank, it gives a CR of 8:1 (or was it 8:5:1 ?) He says that the 3.6 P/C are very good. He makes 5-600 hp with 3.0 crank and 964 cams

Hello Totle, yes I have Max Moritz pistons and Mahle cylinders dropping down to 7.5:1 CR.

Isn't 7.5:1 too low? With todays engine management, I would not go below 8.5:1 to get the best driveability...
