I have not ever tried a set...they sound like a good idea..

I've used them (in the second compression groove) since 1978 with excellent success in several engines.
Excellent leakdowns and reduced windage from the oil tank.

Loss of ring control as rpm increases (ring flutter) is the possible disadvantage.

I experimented with gapless 15-20 years ago.
My experience is with Total Seal only and that was rather negative. They modify a stock ring to create a groove for a secondary ring which over time will end up rotating (rings rotate by design) creating the same gap you had before. The other issue I had with the TS rings was a relative low quality. I believe they use a Hastings ring and matching these rings with Nikasil is a challenge. I use Goetz rings whenever possible. A quick rant: I noticed that this thread has a one star rating. This seems to be a way say a thread has no value. This has got to stop. Every question has value and if you are board with the content just move on. Rating a thread with one post with one star will tend to stifle legitimate questions.

Thanx guys.
Its a lot of work to experiment..I always have had low low leak dwn rates, even on a couple i thought that were going to be ...bad. I think i will stick with tried and proven. Thanx for the insight.
