Starting to get some parts back
In the last couple of weeks, some progress has been made.
The Body is out of the body shop and getting a headliner installed. It is painted an amazing porsche blue. ![]() I finished wrapping the dash with Vinyl from our host. That was a tricky job, and its not perfect, but I did it - that is part of the reward. ![]() I sent the silver painted 17" BBS LM wheels to a wheel restoration company here in Dallas. I asked them to powder coat them Gold, then turn the face and the lip for a silver shine and clear coat. I think they look great. Standard on the surface and detail when you get close up or approached on the side. ![]() ![]() |

Oooh, shiny!

Love the wheels. I have a nasty looking set of Fikse that need the same treatment...

The car got some much needed tlc in the body shop. Years of wear and tear on the body was showing and these guys did a thorough job correcting the freckles.
![]() ![]() I spent SOOO much time cleaning. Hunched over the buckets and the degreaser. Three days of cleaning: engine tins, nuts and bolts and various engine parts. ![]() Sent my throttle body off to get enlarged. It was an efficient and quick process. Its now between 65-66mm. Not huge by comparison to the stock TB, but every little bit helps. ![]() ![]() |

Extrude honed intake
I have been eagerly waiting for these extrude honed intakes to return from the color matched powder coaters. They arrived yesterday and I think they look fantastic.
I can't wait to get them into the car to see how they look, and feel how it works! ![]() ![]() |

Allan, I love that color, very cool! Are you going to sand the Porsche letters for some contrast?

Allan,
This car is going to be a real sleeper, who will ever guess a 3.5L in that basic body. Love It!

When I recently did the top end on my engine, I had gone back and forth so many times times about whether to have the intake extrude honed or not. It sat on my bench for months all cleaned up, covered and protected while I was doing this project. Now that I have seen the pics of the inside of your intake, I'm second guessing my decision to not having it done. It's just at the time, the extra $750 I was quoted could not be worked into the budget. Although I'm sure it would have complimented the cam & exhaust upgrades I did and would have been worth it. You're project is coming along nicely!!

The build seems to make fast & slow progress.
I ran into some very poor machine work service from a shop in the DFW area. Automotive machine &Supply had my engine parts for 8weeks & did nothing other than clean the parts & lie to me about work being done. So I went & got my parts back & have taken them to another option here in DFW. I am very frustrated by the waste of time & the lies, but I'm moving on. It will be a few weeks before I have new engine updates again. 😩😩 |

FWIW - For my '86 3.2 engine with all stock internals and only mods of MAF, extrude honed intake, oversized throttle body, mild chip, stepped headers & race pipes, it dyno'd at 221 RWHP. Although results vary between dynos and conditions the intake mods seem to have added about 5-6 RWHP with everything else the same. Should be a greater improvement for your engine that will be needing to pump more air than mine. Wish you the best in your build. Hope you get those piston clearances right!!

This Engine was completed some time ago, it runs my custom chip+inj setup using stock Air Meter. He did not go MAF because of cost issues. It also runs my twin plug harness/circuit setup.
Dynoed at 240WHP ![]() It really needed my MAF setup to get the best results but not bad at 240WHP, decent result. Could also have used long tube headers for exhaust.

Correct, the engine had a rod failure and determined to be a defective rod.
Engine has been rebuilt and has been running fine. Quote:

Then engine failed because of a defective rod, rod was new but defective. The build is rock solid and has been performing very well. Just don't want others questioning this build.
