964 Con Rod Orientation
When I disassembled my engine, I only took note of which cylinder each rod belonged to.. I neglected to make a note of which way they faced!
is it important? I have heard/read about "thrust face" but I didn't understand.. something to do with the tangs on the bearings? Does it matter? thanks for reading another of my newbie questions... |

Crank nose to the left, all rod ID #s up with rods small end pointing towards you.

The machined sides of the rods on the big ends, around the side of the bores, are the thrust faces.
If the rods are balanced, with the ID numbers on the same side of the rod it shouldn't matter because the rods are symmetric.
