Euro C/R JE Piston question
I am in need of new pistons for my '88 3.2 after some bad piston slap. The plan is to re-nikasil the cylinders and have a set of JE pistons to match . I am currently running a euro premuffler and sport exhasut with 964 cams.
My wrench mentioned having custom JE pistons done at 10:3 C/R. I do not want to go down the twin plug route and after seeing many posts on Mahle's vs, Nikkis, vs Max Mortiz pistons I cant seem to find anyone with stock 95 Mahle cyliinders running 10:3 JE pistons. Is a reason for that? I also plan on having Steve Wong make a chip for he set up as I can get 93 octane and he recommended sticking with stock C/R because of the the dome design of the JE pistons. Any input on a 10:3 C/R with JE and Mahle's? Should I just do a 98 piston at 9:5? thanks

I'd stick with the 9.5s JEs. They have a "flat" dome that will just shroud the chamber too much
at higher comp. ratios. Moritz used an angled dome to try to alleviate this.

Before anything I'd love to know how you got piston slap on a 3.2-not normal unless
it's got a zillion miles. Are these K E jugs?

If getting them replated and purchasing new JE pistons, consider boring to 98mm for a 3.4.

It has a 100k miles and when i bought it out of state 10 yrs ago id needes a valve job real bad but they only reringed the pistons as eveything was in spec. Should have replaced pistons then as well.

Thats what im thinking. So running 98mm on single plug at 9:5 will be that much more noticeable for low end torque than 95mm?

98mm
JE will build you a 98mm Max Moritz 9.8 that will work just fine.Add your chip from Mr.Wong & do not look back.Add just an aluminum flywheel and enjoy.Fred
