Can't search for 3.2?
I'm trying to find out about the upgrades for a 3.0 SC engine, specifically the 3.2 short stroke upgrade I have "heard" about. However any search I do on this or the 911 technical forum with 3.2 in the title ends with no results. What am I doing wrong? Surely there are numerous posts regarding this engine upgrade or configuration.

"3.2SS" would probably produce a lot of results. Or just "short stroke"
You are correct that there are a ton of posts on doing 3.0 --> 3.2 or 3.2 --> 3.4 engines via the 95mm to 98mm bore increase. The 3.0 --> 3.2 is called short stroke simply because you've got a 3.2 engine that arrived at such a displacement by its bore increase and maintaining its shorter 70.4mm crankshaft stroke. Compare that to the later 3.2 Carrera engine that gets its displacement via the same 95mm bore diameter as the 3.0 SC and uses the longer 74.4mm stroke crankshaft from the 3.3L turbo The other reason I mention the 3.2 --> 3.4 is because the same approach for that engine "upgrade." Which is the typical bore increase to 98mm, as well as often changing the cam profile as well. 964 profile seems to be the most popular choice.

I've tried too. It won't search numbers. key words like "performance" short stroke" Ect work.

Yes, use Google, and put in Pelican Parts after your keywords.
Much better search engine

Their crappy search wont parse decimals...which makes searching really hard. I use this custom google search set up by another member. You can search decimals there.

Right click on the forum address you want to search at the top of page and copy. go to google advance and paste address in the address bar there and then put 3.2 or whatever your searching for in the lower search bar. Mr Kontack helped me with this and the search results are spot on. its like a whole new pelican.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, in regards to the numbers not registering in the search - I'll bring this up to our tech team and see if we can solve this issue for you guys.

This.
I expected this would be resolved when they modernized the bbs software. No such luck. ![]()

Google is the best option. It's even worse, IMO, in the parts catalog.

For the 3.0 -> 3.2 conversion with 46 carbs it recommends "S" or GE80 cams. Does anyone know who manufactures the GE80 cams? For the 3.2 -> 3.4 conversion with 46 carbs it recommends "S" cams. |

GE 80 cams are Garretson Enterprises. Jerry Woods Enterprises is a good source for these. There's other cam makers like Elgin and Dougherty Racing that have profiles just like the GE cams.
The key here to what you mention for cams is that the carbs allow those cam profiles to be used with those engines. The tighter lobe separation angle, high lift cams like the S or GE80 cams typically do not agree with the CIS or Motronic injection. Additionally, those engines have an offset, semi-wedge piston dome with moderate compression ratio/dome volume to complement the CIS or Motronic injection and single spark plug heads. Whereas the S or GE80 cams are more conducive to carbs or MFI and the pistons are symmetric dome pistons with higher compression ratio.
