Guys that have sent off their 3.0 to be rebuilt
Any recommendations on people or shops? I am in need of a rebuild on my 3.0 (broken head studs). Any advice on shops or people- looking to have it done once and want a quality end result. Thanks.

Where are you located? For LA or the surrounding areas, TLG or TRE are two popular shops that have a good reputation - no affiliation to either shops.

I'm in the Midwest- we don't have that many shops locally. Considering sending it out to have the work completed.

I'm sure that one of our members will suggest something closer to you than having to ship it to CA. Best of luck!

Give us a nearby city to home in on. You gonna truck it over yourself, or do you want to ship it? There are really good shops in the mid-west, too...

3.0
Are you going to freshen it as an updated stock engine or make changes ?

Try BHR at 29th and Holmes. I've known Aaron for years. He's a good guy that really knows his stuff.

I'm not a fan of Aaron- would rather not have him touch any of my stuff.
Looking to get some more power out of it while they are in there. |

Yeah- was hoping to not have to get in line with Karl. They have a pretty good backlog.
And I'm pretty sure they try to keep the rebuilds over the winter months. Last edited by kc911s; 02-23-2018 at 08:46 AM.. |

Shipping is easy and rather inexpensive, specially if you ship it to the right builder.

That's what I'm hoping. Only concern would be damage to or from builder.

Might ask Kevin at K&H auto and see if he would. He by Johnson drive and Metcalf. Or if you know Jim Kundif you could ask him. I have no good things to say about Mark Journey. Where in KC are you. Feel free to PM me.

That's the BHR I posted earlier. My friend Aaron bought Bob out several years ago when Bob retired.

Is he still in business?
![]() That's a bummer, but I understand. We've been friends since '95. He had recently started at BHR and I was at Vee Village.

Someone mentioned Bob Hindson Racing?
They smashed up someone's brand new GT3 RS last year during a joyride... https://jalopnik.com/shop-owner-smashes-the-front-of-a-porsche-911-gt3-rs-in-1792973207 |
