Part # and price for Navigation radio box
Wayne/Jared/Eli/etc. I have a 2002 330xi with MKIII Navigation and Harmon Kardon stereo (5/02 production). My audio quality has just recently gone really downhill (static-y, crackles, distortion, etc.), and I think it's in the preamp section of the stock audio system.
In Navigation equipped systems, the preamp amplification must either be a) in the headunit or b) in the radio/tuner box in the trunk next to the stock amp (note my problem is not due to the stock amp, I've eliminated it as a candidate). Also, I doubt the preamp is in the headunit, as the headunit can either contain a cassette, CD or Mini-Disc, such that it would make sense that they would separate the preamp from those three distinct mechanisms. So, my guess is that it's the radio/tuner box in the trunk. I've pulled it, and the BMW part # on it is 65-12-6-919-080 and one dealer I talked to said it's about $420. However, I talked to another dealer (before I just discovered Pelican, by the way), and he said that that part # no longer exists, and that the replacement part is $920 (what the @#$%), unfortunately not providing the new supposed part #. Do you guys have the "old" part # and price? If not, please tell me that the "new" part # really isn't $920? I think the 2nd dealer quoted me the radio/tuner box for an MKIV (not III) navigation system. Thx. John. |

Just a crazy question, but why wouldn't something like this be covered under warrenty?
Thanks! Chuck

John, I checked with one of my sources at BMW he informs me that the number you posted is the current number, although ther are none in currently available in the country. He tells me the old number was 65-12-6-904-213. He did mention that both had an msrp of about 525.00.
He also mentioned that this sould be covered under warrenty, given your pro date. but Your milage might be an issue? Good luck.

If by the quotes do you mean did I jack the car, the answer is no.
![]() No, the reason it might not be covered by warranty is that I have some aftermarket stereo equipment in there, and when they see that, they might blame the problem on it and put up a fight on replacing the component. So, in case that happens, I wanted to know the part price and availability. Thanks again. |

Oh and one other thing. Again, before I found out about this forum (I know I sound like a broken record), on another parts forum on Roadfly (I'm sure you know who it is) quoted me that part number (65-12-6-919-080) at $420. I assume you guys could match/beat that if I need to get one?

I have Javier looking into this for you........ he will let you know what we can do for you.
By the way my quote wasn't designed to put you on the spot it was more of a joke...... Everyone seems to have reasons for staying a miles distance and I just wanted to know yours. |

As you can see we are very "lax" around here, as long as the work gets done I have no gripes!
Although it would be nice to see more traffic around here, like our PORSCHE side, but I'm sure it will come in time. |
