hi all can u help??? my e39 recently had an over heating prob, got that sorted but whilst car on rolling road test the asc light came on and airbag warning light, methinks its a glitch, but went to garage for diagnostic check, there were 2 errors, and the errors were re set, but the lights wont, the car drives fine, the abs is working along with the traction control, i know this as i could feel a difference after the error codes were re set, any idea why the lights wont re set???
Plus, if i disconnect the battery for a few minutes ive heared this re boots the system entirely, but would it re code the keys or would they still work remotely??? would it re set the lights?? im loathe to go to the bmw place as i really dont have squillions to spend, any advice would be most welcome. By the way the advice i recieved in here over the overheating prob was invaluable, my precious beamer is now cooooooool!!!!! |

have you checked the battery? Was it for a time very low? In case the battery is very weak, the electronic system sometimes play hazzard and funny things happen.
As for the airbag light, this will not get reset by just disconnecting the battery. Such a reset is only for example for the Motronic, GM etc., but not for the airbag system. For this you need a special SRS reset tool. For you E39 series I recommend the Peake SRS fault code scanning and reset tool which Pelican Parts sells.
