How do I remove db Killer?
I just bought a '05 Boxer Cup bike and I am wondering how I would remove the baffles out of the exhaust outlets. Do I just drill out the little spot weld on the bottom and pull it out? I would like the bike to be alot louder.
Is there any other restrictions in the exhaust system that I need to know about (besides the cat)? I am new to the BMW world so any other useful info would be appreciated too. Thanks in advance |

Yes, just drill out the spot welds and work the db killers out with something that fits into the pipe. The db killers are a press fit with the welds gone and a couple drops of wd-40 helps them come out easily.
I was told that the Laser system on the '05 was designed to be a zero back-pressure system with the cat gone. Also, removing the db killers will boost the noise from about 92 db to about 96 db. Removing the cat and installing the Laser Sport Collector again raises the db level to about 101. I think I got the numbers correct, but if not, Mr. Foster at FosterRad can give you all the info you may need. The Sport collector and chip seem to make an improvement.

You will feel a noticable increase in noise torque after that mod.

Only one weld on each, at the bottom and a 5/16 " drill should get the whole spot. Use a couple drops of the WD-40 around the edge of the insert and stick a broom handle or a small hammer handle in the pipe and just work it until it loosens and comes out. A small slide hammer that you can hook inside the pipe works too.

I should say that I pulled mine after about 1500 miles of riding on the bike. Maybe the more heat cycles that the DB killer / exhaust outlet experience has an effect on the tightness of the contact seal. Who knows. Good luck to you though. |

Does anyone have a picture of the pipes w/ the killers removed? It looks like the killers start at the rolled lip. I just want to make sure before I start prying. |
