Rob, that sandstorm was brutal here too. My eyes are still hurting. Fine sand/dust is the worst possible thing for your camera. DSLR's or point & shoots. Think I wrecked a couple of the P&S cameras with fine sand. Lens quits working.

They are a bit expensive here, and I haven't gone full frame yet. Nikkor Lens PC-E 24mm f/3.5D ED - Digital Camera Warehouse Australia

I will go 14-24 and full frame on the next model release.

I found my old road race boots......this is how the toe wore down due to racing an old boxer.......and before the days of knee sliders.....which were useless racing a boxer anyhow!

They are about $1,000 higher there than here.

The tilt-shifts, particularly the 24mm work well on the D300 cameras. You get much more shifting. They take a lot of effort to understand though, and almost cross the line between fun photography over to work photography. 14-24mm is about the best Nikon lens.

Yes, I did Bob! I'll post a couple more shots later, maybe cleanup the exposures & contrast.

In search of tiny wildflowers. Believe it or not they can grow here for a brief bit of time. None today though.

2 X Donkeys

1 steam and 1 fossil fuel.

Just a cell phone pic.

Nice warm day so I took the back roads to a place on the coast hwy for a late lunch.
Kinnda funny as I used to work for the company that made many of these steam donkeys of all sizes. Way before my time ther, we made big ass pumps, but same company. Now all those jobs are in Mexico or Taiwan. I have seen a few of these way out in the forest just rotting away.

Highway 26 about 30 miles from the coast heading out from Portland. This is at a restaurant called Camp 18. They have a bunch of old logging equipment on display from the 20s and 30s.
