Hey Bill, you ever ride in the Bentonville area? I may have a relocation option, just wondering how the riding was down there.

The riding is awesome! Lots of curves, and very little traffic. it is a great area to live. Bentonville has exploded with growth due to many factors.... Walmart is headquartered there and requires many of their partnering companies to do the same. I would reccommend living in one of the surrounding burbs. But you will not find a nicer place with friendly helpful people than Arkansas. Summers are a little humid... and there are a couple weeks of winter weather... but you can pretty much ride year round.

I passed by the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum on the way to visiting some relatives in Oregon. Turns out the Spruce Goose is displayed there, so I had to go check it out. This place was incredible. Photo album here.

The Spruce Goose overwhelms the main building, as it should...

A P-51 sits under it:

A B-17 nearby:

A Yak under it:

A P-38:

A Sopwith Camel...

Over at the adjacent Space Museum resides an SR-71:

What collection would be complete without an X-15?

A JB-2 Loon, an Allied-built version of the V-1:

A Gemini capsule, I'm thinking...

Wow that is one impressive exhibit, great photos too.
I’m keen on aviation technology so if I am ever in that part of the world I will be sure to drop in a take a long look.

are you sure?

Not to quibble, but the plane described as a Yak looks suspiciously like a Ryan PT-22 to me (just my OCD emerging- again). The airplane behind it is pretty interesting too, at least to us homebuilt enthusiasts: a Glassair III. One of the first truly high performance homebuilts, capable of 300 mph and aerobatic. Kind of like having your own little fighter plane.

And thanks as usual for the great photos, Steve. I've been wanting to stop by there. The next time I won't be dissuaded

You're right. The plaque that was next to that plane was referring to the one hanging from the ceiling instead...

Nice.

I'm sure this has been discussed a bazillion times already, but when you upload to smugmug or other archive sites, do you upload at full resolution? I am aware that the generic forum photo processing software trashes the photo quality; one of these days I'd like to get a smugmug account myself. Occasionally I have a decent photo (usually taken by The Photographer, who is far more talented than I) that I'd like to share without it being mangled.

Wow Steve, all the shots are magazine quality! Good job!

You need to do his slideshow if you haven't already.

Glad you guys like the pics. A slideshow would be a fun project, especially if I could pick the right music for it.

Lars- I re-size the images to 1024 pixels wide and upload those, which I link to here. SmugMug puts up thumbnails and intermediate sizes that they generate. I believe PhotoBucket is still free and you can link to images there that won't get ruined by Pelican the re-sizing software.

Great pics, Steve. Good to see that the Spruce Goose is so well taken care of. And you got a pic of a McDonnell Rhinoceros! Thanks for that. Most folks pass them by....too many made I guess.
