Dee,
According to google earth, he is in a wooded area surrounded by lots of houses.... They don't have trees like he does though.

It appears that a basket truck with enough stick could make fairly quick work of that tree. Looks way to dead to be climbing in. Rick said it was scary at the TOR, he wasn't kiddin!!!

Find a new place to park and let mother nature take care of it.

The liberal application of C4 would do the trick on those snags...

Dee, no worries on the garage, the insurance coverage was more than adequate for the damage. One large branch penetrated the roof and ceiling, it missed my F-150 by about 6 inches. The good news is there's now one less 80 foot cedar to worry about!

Cheers! Bill J

The power company here is VERY responsive, they usually show up with in hours to at least evaluate it, and sokmetimes cut it.

They would rather prevent than fix a problem.

Dee, now you see why you don't want anything to do with that tree.

Utility company seems to think there is still enough alive that it will be good for a couple more years. The people across the street and the main line going down the street are in the flight path. Our wires cross the street in front of it too but we are 300+ up the hill from the tree. It has to be cheaper for them to deal with the tree before it takes out the pole and lines but it is their call.

Long term I'd also be a bit concerned about that very steep slope above the Maples. If the root system gets yanked out by the tree falling, it will for sure destablize that area above it. Even if the tree is dying, that large root system does help anchor the toe of the slope. If the tree is removed, or if the tops just break out, the remaining root bundle will continue to help stabilize things for approximately 5 to 7 years, after that it's another gamble. (FYI, In a previous lifetime I was a professional forester and have done a bit of research on these sorts of issues)

Are you a Puget customer, or some other electric utility? I have somewhat of a connection with someone at Puget, not sure if a word in the right place could help or not...but I'm willing to run it up the flagpole.

Seems like it's gonna be a looonnnnngggg winter!

Cheers, Bill J

He is supposed to be here in a couple days... I told him dad was on his deathbed, hoping he would bring the GSX challenge...
