Another incredible pic, ck. Would it be too obvious if I mentioned that I'll betcha can't roller skate there? Maybe bradz could, but he's special :D

Somebody should start a stampede… and fire up the grill.

ckcarr 01-26-2014 05:32 AM

Thanks Bob!
Oh, You don't want to drive them over the cliff. They aren't that smart. They might actually do it. (I've got the pictures...)
I'm counting in the 40ish range, that's pretty good.

Just for reference...
(from Wikipedia)

Chugwater, Wyoming
"Some historians hold that the name "Chugwater" is derived from an account of a bison hunt. According to this narrative, a chief was disabled during the hunt and his son took charge of the hunt or "buffalo jump." Under his direction, hunters drove the bison over nearby cliffs; when the animals reached the ground below, a sound of "chugging" was heard by the hunters. The story concludes with an etymology: since a stream was near the base of the cliffs, the site of the stampede has been called "the place" or "water at the place where the buffalo chug."

Long time since I started this thread with a Bald Eagle shot, so appropriate I pop back in with another. Coworker captured this Baldy on his way to work a couple of weeks ago (before it went Antarctic on us).http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390861508.jpg

And as a shameless plug, I finally got a book done and up on iBooks. Search for "The AWOL Stardrives" it's free, and enjoy.

Merv - out freezing in polar Iowa.

Thanks. I just downloaded it. I'll get started reading it after I finish the 4 on my list in front of it. Thanks again.

And a picture of my boat.

Merv, Obsssn is now on its 4th owner since you sold it. It is in process of becoming a full time trackster. We're supposed to get snow down here in Georgia tomorrow. Hope all is well with you.

Fishing lessons, taken on holiday,Ucluelet Canada…not a zoo shot.

I know what bears do in the woods, but are you sure they were fishing in that creek? Either you had a great telephoto lens or you were way too close.

My watch bird was eyeing my eye, he had to settle for a chipmunk.

Seems like a lot of Pelican's have gone to bird watching.

This is what bears were after…it was awesome to be so close at times a couple of meters.

Nice to know the old gal is still running! Plenty of life left in the beast! With all the deer now running around with cell phones the back country roads of Iowa are killers for motorad riders!

Plus the freeze/thaw cycle has been extreme this winter, so potholes are already eating Ford F150's soon to start snacking on Peterbuilts. Everything paved is becoming dirt bike territory.

Ha! I can hear the deer arguing now "Ma, he licked my ipad screen and it's all smudgy" or "I need a new screen protector, they're not hoof-safe."
