25,000 euro = 34,504.9828 dollars
Hey,
It's about time for BMW to produce something like the R1200S HP! ![]() But for 25,000 Euro's = 34,504.9828 dollars I think it's a little steep! I could buy the new Ducati 1198 for less then the price of the HP and about 40hp more to boot ![]()

Above quote "valves will be computer driven like on GP cars" is not correct either. They (BMW) are going there, but with the cars first...........and remember, when you finally do get a "computer driven valve train" you no longer need a cam........and these HP units do have cams.
Now on another note...........we BMW bike people may well see a computer controlled variable cam timing design that positions the cam sprocket to the degree of timing that is needed at any engine load, rpm, and throttle opening position. The computer will optimize these variables and send this info to the sprocket control for the correct cam timing position for the given engine condition........while at the same time sending the same info to the fuel injectors and spark ignition. Everybody, cam, fuel, spark........... would be working like a team. We may well see this form of VCT sooner than some might think. You read it on this forum. |

There's no pricing out for the 1198R yet so I don't understand your pricing assumption. Given the price of the Tri-Colour 1098 I'd be surprised if the 1198R isn't on par or higher than the R12S-HP2 since the R model Ducati's have always been a significant hike over the base model Ducati superbikes.
