Thumbs up The real Sportboxer has finally arrived...

I like the bike a lot!A nice sport-boxer!But if it will be more than 20K than it will be like other exotics. For dreams only...
B.t.W. radial valves are nothing big or new.Hondas XL500 thumper from 1978 also had radial valves...
Hope they use the bike as a platform for a nice sport-tourer to finally have a true replacement for the R1100S and R1100RS!That would be a heck of a bike and worth really getting excited about.Especially since the already slow selling R1200S following the fate of the R1200ST now for sure with the exciting HP-S being available!

Honda's Radial 4-Valve Single for comparison

It for sure looks simpler and cheaper to produce compared to the R1200S-HP Head:

Wink HP2-S' little sister;R1200RS...

The valves easier/cheaper to adjust,too...
Hope for the sport-tourer they go with the screw type adjusters instead of shims...

So far there is nothing that I don't like about this bike. It could be my 50th birthday gift 3 years early. I love the Blue trellis and the white and carbon body work, the wheels deed to be broken up a little of change the color to black and match the engine. Anyone who gets this bike will be one lucky he or she, I love bikes and I love my S, but this bike is my fantasy of what BMW could do and I want it so bad....

Yes, that is a compliment to Suzuki which has had top 1000's and 600's, but there are only so many ways to go with a race bike for the street. I do like the way the engine and frame are easily seen, I want to see a machine, if I wanted all enclosed I'll drive my car. This bike has captured me in a way no other bike has, man this kool aid is good at least on the bike.

It came from Rainer, check the video. But i agree, it will not be sold for $34k in the US.

Pardon my ignorance (I'm no wrencher) but what makes shim adjustments easier than screw type? (I would assume that shims would increase valve adjust intervals.) And, why would you prefer screw-type for a sport touring model? No need to carry shims with you?

OK - this is beautiful!

Which of the aforementioned sites has the highest-resolution versions of the HP2 riding photos? I think I need new wallpaper!

TIA, Mike

I hope they paint the for sale ones with something other than that cartoonish black and white.

I like the lights on the carbon fiber one over the "Spy vs. Spy" lights on the #17.
Bob, go ahead and buy one so you can discount your R12S to me.....

Exactly and I love the Alpine white and the pacific blue frame, black wheels would look better imo.

Ducati had a model....forget which one, but it had cf bodywork painted red, except where the model nomenclature was....that was left cf black. Really slick.

They also left the original Paul Smart forget the model name, had the tanlk painted except a stripe down the side where one could see how much fuel was in the tank.

I'm not painting carbon fiber, done right it is beautiful, especially in the sun.
