All in all (soundtrack apart) was it worthy? what about remapping that RB1 thing of yours? |

…oops… …I never gave a reply… …but it’s (a big) ‘yes’… …this trouble of letting the cat out, was truly worth it… …sooooo much smooth mid range torque/power now… …and none of the typical R12S throttle hesitation around 4000 RPM anymore… …different bike now… …it was already different with the (stock) RB1… …after that with the remapped RB even better… …and it is now (engine wise) close to perfect (for me)… …next spring I will have the S on the dyno again, for further RapidBike improvements… …it smells as if the bike runs a bit rich in the mid range now… …but ; some sort of winter now over here… …wet, cold, and salty roads… . |

...you basically add another expansion chamber... the question remains "Is it in the right spot"?
According to Ron, it seems to be positive, rather than negative... in the end, you add flow which is good to some extend... being that he still has the original exhaust, there still is enough back pressure to retain a good torque band, actually adding to it in some areas... The dyno will tell the true story... |

Crap! Nothing is easy any more, Bill
I just looked at the replacement cost if you screw up the OEM system. It's $1,866.11!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek: |

...on the other hand, Laser once made a set of very fine pipes for the R12S Van Harten Racer... ...way different from the 'stock' cat-less headers we know from Laser... ...some time later Van Harten swapped those pipes for a full (stock Ti) Akra set, and the bike performed better... ...but removing the cat from my stock pipes, already gave a massive improvement... ...and ASAP (next spring or so) I will post my old & new dyno results... ...btw Ralf ; I don't have the original exhaust... ...Lasers these days, remember... ;) |
...I hardly remember my name these days, Ron... let alone what you did with your pipes :D

A nice trip!

That is a short trip considering the benefits. *It is to one of the best tuners in the world Ruud Fredereks!;) *The trip back will be faster and smoother!:) Enjoy the trip! |

I won't spoil everything for Ron, but holy cow, I never thought an almost stock 12S had that many horses hiding in that motor somewhere. Something like a peak of 144 horsies at the crank is quite impressive, especially 2 feet away from the business end of a pair of open Laser pipes as it bounces of the limiter. :D

They are There!
Greetings TM,
They are there all right... You just have to feed them correctly after you remove the pumping losses from the restrictive intake and exhaust! EU 3 and the EPA regulations strangle engines very well! Let's just say that Roloo set them free at the hands of a good performance plan and a good tuner... a very good tuner! Ruud is one of the best! Although you report excellent WOT readings - you would be surprised if you noted the A-B difference @ 30 - 50 - 75% throttle. Would be just as impressive! I am happy for Roloo! He seems like a goed BMW persoon! Goedenacht TM!SmileWavy |
Rob, I know, I was there watching the master at work. :) But I don't want to give everything away, it is Ron's party after all. :)

Nog wakker Roloo
Greetings Roloo,
Nog wakker? Geluk voorkomt slapen? We wachten op je verhaal! Goede dromen met het voorwiel in de lucht! Goedenacht!SmileWavy |
