I think what this tells us is that they've all found the limit of the tires. Superpole will tell us who can go fastest beyond the grip level. Whoever manages tires the best will win. My money goes to the establishment(Xerox/TenKate). They have the most data and the least changes(newness).

![]() Seems like Corser made a misstake and took to the pits too soon! He should've stayed longer to improve the time. Seems like the stratergy didn't work. HE'S OUT! ![]()

Leon did a great job on the rookie WSBK team Stiggy Motorsport riding his Honda CBR. Even though BMW didn't do as well as we had hoped, it's going to be some hard racing tomorrow. Analysis: BMW seem to have trouble with the tires. Something they obviously didn't have during qualifying. Maybe the new parts they fitted yesterday did something unexpected, while running on qualifiers!?

Well, that sure makes Suzuki look stupid. Go Ben!
We can look for Haga to put on a show from 13th working his way to the front. Or chucking it. One of the two.

Many of the hard chargers won't agree with my statement about locking in the race configuration so the driver isn't testing during the final qualifing run but... Tire choice should have been the least of their concerns Jonas. Maybe my earlier post about not trying to run out there early in the season was correct. Only time and actual racing will tell. What did the engineer say "More DATA"
Watch out for Fabrizio on that 10 no 1198R. They tuned in some fine time on the Q tyres. Last edited by Guest24; 02-28-2009 at 05:17 AM.. |

...ah all these nay-sayers... darn, the BMW riders showed them!
It's going to be a learning year, it's as easy as that... anything positive that will happen this year is BONUS... it's as simple as that. They are in there and they WILL learn, racing history has shown that the Germans learn rather quickly... Let's just be happy that BMW has picked up international racing again, shall we? Don't be disappointed, it's the nature of the game... BMW has come to the game fairly late and it's amazing what they have done in a relatively short amount of time...

Just shows how good Spies is and the bike with the new configuration!!,what is never mentioned about Biaggi,as part of his contract he insisted he have all his old championship winning crew from his 250 days all speaking the same language!!
The yeee haaa lets head e'm off at the pass BMW brigade on here, well i'm not going to say i told you so,it's a tuff game out there and BM will learn, but expecting to do good straight from the trap shows more about the BM brigades lack of racing knowledge rather than BM's ability,it's a new crew and it's going to take time. Interesting Spies saying the real race starts 8 laps from the end.!! Because of the new format, more time is being spent on qualifying,it'll be interesting who has a good race setting. |

That's when the tire wear really comes into play... Spies is impressive - most impressive... but, he's not a Jedi yet!

Just got back from the track. Some thoughts:
First time I have seen Benny Speez ride up close. Two words; Gee Zus! This guy is the real thing. 31.0! Dang! The BMW team screwed up. Corser was just on ABC radio, he was saving his Q rubber for Superpole 2 and Superpole 3, and failed to graduate out of Superpole 1, which he ran on a race tyre. His race pace is really good but he is starting back in the pack. The Beems are about 8-9kmh down on top speed. That is gonna hurt in the race. Get out a pen and write down JONNY REA. I had a priveleged view of qualifying (from inside Ten Kate, TY Roland) and the kid was dead calm all the way thriough. When Spies did his 31-dead, he shrugged his shoulders and said that he could not make up half a second. Then Biaggi bounced him back to third. Rea did a 20-lap run this morning and was consistent all the way through. The Aprilia is fast over a lap but not over the long run. This is gonna be about Spies and Rea. If the R1 stays kind to its tyres, get beer and popcorn ready because this is gonna be Hall of Fame stuff.

Jonas, I did pick Spies and Rea one two. If they pick the tyres right this will be a short race time wise. BM is still down the learning curve. I still say that they will have to gel as a team during the first half, Sprint vs Endurance. At least the roundel is in the show if not in the hunt-YET.
Watch out for Fabrizio on that 10 no 1198R. They tuned in some fine time on the Q tyres. He could be second after turn 2. Last edited by Guest24; 02-28-2009 at 05:22 AM.. |

I don't think Rea will place well, he has "traction issues" !
