Can I have a T-Shirt in XL, please? That will be a nice conversation starter:

"who is Ralf?"
"Me"
"ah..."

At which point I suspect most would turn around and walk away...

Love you too, Brad... thank you!

Ralf,
is an acquired taste.
That said he is a hell of a rider and i would miss him if he wasn't around stirring the pot.

I'm usually in agreement with you Brad, but you may be a bit off on this assessment. First. I don't live where you live, although I have occasionally seen buzzards out and about, this was my first experience dodging one. If I had any thought that thing would have taken off right in front of me, BELIEVE me I would have slowed down, or come to a stop. I had no desire to kill it, and definitely none to hit it, which could have had HUGE consequences for me.

If by ignorance you mean I haven't had much buzzard experience, then I will agree I was a bit ignorant. But if you mean I was carelessly attempting to buzz the buzzard you are wrong my man. And, NOW I know better, from first hand experience!

Funny enough, although I didn't mention it in the original story, it must have been road kill day, because 5 miles down the road from buzzard #1 I encountered another buzzard chowing down on a groundhog (rabies season) I went REAL SLOW by that one, see I am a quick learner! :D

bradzdotcom 05-24-2009 10:01 AM

yea, i meant ignorant as in "you didn't know better".

i've seen people nudge them with a foot while riding by and they still stand there and feast.
turkey buzzards around here are overwhelmingly ugly, dumb, slow moving and stubborn.
you assume it's a fire hydrant and are surprised that it moves at all when you creep by.

we also have wild turkeys, the real ones....and guys hunt them with bow and arrow during the seasons. apparently, they're hard to nail, unlike the turkey buzzard, which would walk right up to you....although slowly and not in a straight line...just to see what you're doing.
like going to the tropical fish store with a hook, line and lettuce.

sergio~ no women's apparel yet (sorry, you'll still have to frequent the fetish stores), however we will soon be releasing private labeled sunglasses, dog food, real-meat marinara sauce, a very tasty merlow and a breakfast cereal with a free surprise inside (don't ask).

I served as well, John... although in the German Army... 4 years of duty.

And, if you have laughed, it's filled it's purpose... not everything is to be taken all to serious...

Kevin, that was funny... LOL

I'll leave next Thursday, Bubba... should me MUCH quieter around here for a while after that! ;)

I am probably abrasive, and I do speak (or write) my mind... I just favor it that way instead of keeping it bottled up. Some don't like it, some like me because of me being that way.... many of the people who have met me in person have no problems with me. Some do or did but even that gets ironed out after a while. There are quite a few people here who know me personally and I'll leave it to them, to "judge" me if it is what floats their boat...

In the end, I just have different beliefs and/or view points... and I make them no secret. As I understand it, that's what your wonderful country is built on (or at least that's what it USED to be built on), Freedom of Speech, isn't it?

The very right to climb on a soap box ANYWHERE and at ANY TIME and express you thoughts, ideas, opinions and whatever else you want to express...

Of course, reality is much different and none of these things hold true anymore...

I believe that the issue, Ralph, is that you don't simply come off as someone that speaks his mind, or someone that is abrasive. That would be fine if you did.

You come off as someone with a childish school kid propensity for self aggrandizement and insult. You're great guy in meat space? That's just super. You'd give the shirt off of your back to someone in need? Awesome!

There are others on this forum that are extremely abrasive and go out of their way to speak their mind. There are fan bois and trolls, and those that like a good argument. They all seem to contribute positively in their own way. Unlike you.

The perception with you, though, is that you don't seem to have "any game", you don't seem to add anything other than rank insult. I'm not sure how you consider that speaking your mind or having an opinion. Insult is not the same as opinion.

Enjoy your trip to AK. Be safe.

You'll have plenty of saddle time to think about how others perceive you and why. You may say that it does not bother you if people think that you are a dick, but I'm going to guess that it really does. No one wants to be thought of as a dick. What's the point in that?

I'm sure you'll loose sleep over this, but I'm putting you on "ignore". Your insulting posts, apparent need to reply to every post with nothing but inane drivel, spoil this place.

You might try going over to bmwforums or jomoma if your looking for a real argument (although I doubt you will because you are really a lightweight and will be eaten alive).

I am going to miss you...

If all of us were understood this world would be extremely boring! I've been misunderstood my entire life!! Some of us are hated when we stir the pot, others are luved. Its our own perception how we view whats written or said.
BTW what ever happened to Chris Guetting? Another that has been misunderstood. I know he's doing quite well and enjoying his new R1200S. I just wish some of you guys had a chance to personally chat or ride with the guy, your opions may change. I'm sure the same is true of Ralph or any of us that don't say or write exactly what others expect them to do or say.
With that being said I personally will continue to be as outrageous as possible!! Hopefully I'll offend myself more than others. Please if my comments offend anyone here, just ignore them, there really not of any importance anyway.

lightfighter 05-24-2009 12:11 PM

another one i cant resist... i would understand someone thinking they dont like ralf, but assuming you can delete him from your interwebnet experience, and choose to do so... you are an animal i dont understand. seems like you would next just set up filters to block "stuff i might not want to hear".

if i could ride to alaska right now, and he would have the company, i'd go with him in a heartbeat. i'm pretty sure i would ride anywhere with him. i'd probably slow him down... but i'd go.

by the way, how does one get "eaten alive" on a bullitin board?

For all of you Ralf dis-likers who have not ACTUALLY MET him, shame on you. Judging someone on written communication only? Wow . . .

You're ok in my book sir. You can fall in my pool anytime. :)

Be safe on your journey brother! I forget if you're going through Montana, but if you are and get in a pickle there, call me. Have good contacts, especially in the Flathead Valley.

Chris and I don't see eye-to-eye on many issues... but we call each other and might even ride south to Tierra del Fuego together next year...

So what if we disagree and so what if we are in each others hair over certain issues...

Who cares, really... as I said before, Dee... you are welcome here at ANY time... anybody is, really. If you can deal with my place, I can deal with you!

I am guilty of the same, Bingo...

I'll try to avoid that Pool thingy... 'twas to costly last time!

Yup, going through Montana, do NOT want to miss out on Glacier, a place that I have been wanting to go to all of my life (well, ever since I first saw it in a geography book at the age of 9!)

I'll keep that in mind... thank you!

I will have to introduce you to my oldest son sometime :D
Or you could listen to many of the talking heads on political radio.

I love him, but he is a professional dick when he wants to be. A local riding forum gave him his own section to post in, that requires a separate log in so it does not show up in "new posts" unless you want it to. Much like Ralf seems to be, he has a good heart and is fun to be around. He has several friends from the forum, but they even shake their head when he gets on a rant.
