Red face So, no more R1200S?

I tried searching to find when the last year of the R1200S. Also, it doesn't look like there is an R1200S equivalent in the new BMW models--at least one less than $25,000. This can't be right . . .

Not in the current configuration.
All are considered 2007 models.

The irony is that the first year r1100s bikes did not sell well at all either. And they were percieved as "radical" as far as design. But they gave it a chance, and adjusted their consumer price and company cost points over the years until it settled in as a viable model.

Not so with the r1200s. Oops! Didn't work... Get rid of it!

Thanks for the info. This is a bummer.

Was the R1100S produced up thru 2006?

R1200S 11/2004 - 09/2006

Thanks. I bought my 1999 R1100S about 4 years ago and haven't paid much attention to what BMW was doing. Are there any rumors of an affordable boxer sport(y) bike in the future?

Is there a rumor of an R1300S? Or is that just a "hope and prayer"?

No saddle bags for the R1200S? I have hard bags for my R1100S but have never used them. But I don't take long bike trips anymore.

I have hard bags on my R1200S and regularly take it on day trips of 400-650 miles. I don't care what BMW thinks of the bike. I love it. If I could afford to keep it and also get a GSA, I'd do that. But I may have to get rid of the S for a GSA, as I simply need more fuel range. Wasn't an issue on the east coast, where you're never more than five miles from a gas station. Out here you can easily be over 100 miles from the nearest one.

Are these dates correct?
And wasn't there a 2005 boxercup?

As far as the r1200s, mine was one of the first ones sold here in the good old USA and I bought on June 16 2006. Or are you referring to the first die that is cast?

I'd think that would take some work in Phoenix metropolitan area...

Think 2011 DOHC R4V R1250S with lower cost plastic skin parts, lots of mid range torque, passenger pegs, radial brakes, top HP in the 135 range, 13:1 compression, a slipper clutch, tire pressure sensors, off/on ABS, LCD lighting for all blinders and tail lights, and better rear brakes.

We are also hoping for factory approved wave rotors, and a redesigned, titanium tube-based drive shaft to replace the slightly heavy steel one now employed.
