LAMPF error (report)

On the day of the BMW factory demo ride, I saw the dreaded LAMPF warning come up on my console. Very handy, even if a bit irritating. Yes, the front bulb was burned out. The dealership quickly installed a new one for $20 all in. I'm satisfied.

Why even mention it? Because it is this kind of warning system provided by BMW that prevents mishaps and reduces risk. It's a love/hate thing.

Happy camper here.

hmmmm.....you need a komputr to tell you your headlight bulb is burned out?

I guess the 'pre ride check' is obsolete.

next thing you know, it'll be doing data logging and judge your skill level....no ignition if it does a quick analysis and judges 'squirrel'...on second thought, that might not be such a bad thing

You can get a LAMPF with just that little idle light that's in the front of the K. You also get a LAMPR if something is out in the back. I think it's pretty cool actually.

I know you're kidding and of course a "pre ride check" is important. How else would you notice you left your key in the seat lock overnight?

In my case, the headlight was fine prior to the ride and the error message popped up while I was riding.

Maybe I'm easily amused, but yes Mr. Hancock, I think it's pretty cool.

Lampf

LAMPF is also a good reminder to put the mirrors back on after a trackdayhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/biggrin.gif

The pre-ride checklist did indeed include waving a hand in front of the headlight at one time, more so when we had headlight switches.

a couple hours before nightfall on a long ride it's nice to be informed by the bike that you are going to be sans lowbeam. especially if you are about to pass a parts store.
