Hey Richard, thanks for the post.......who would have thought so many. There is a part about her visit to my house and shop in "The perfect vehicle: what it is about motorcycles" By Melissa Holbrook Pierson. She was a pretty good kid and rode a moto guzzi at the time she showed up in Florida with Franz Nachod who ran Spare Parts off of Vine street in Philadelphia. Nice book.

Doc - Franz was my main (BMW) man back in the day. I bought my first BMW from him when he worked at the BMW shop on North Broad St. (1975 75/5 LWB). His own shop was always a fun place to hang out. I don't get down to that part of town much these days, but I undersatnd the store is still there but, run by someone else. And, I hear it is still a great place to hang, waiting for just the right moment to fire up the bikes and get the boys to rip through town and head up I95.

I took a look at the site and went down to Melissa's book for a quick review. I note that the book design is by Chris Welch. If I am not mistaken, that is Ms. Christine Welch who is a fairly well known designer in this neck of the woods (Philly). Christine is no moto-slouch, either. She was the big sister of an old buddy of mine, Nipper Welch, and I'll never forget the summer day in the mid-1960's when she decided to cool herself off riding around on her HD Service Bike in a bikini.
