Boxer Cup Rep or R1200S

Good Evening Guys..

I have been looking for a R1100S for a while.. missed out on a nice one last year due to an unexpected arrival of my son..

I found a Boxer Cup rep for $10500 Cnd.. - with only 5000km.. on it.. has a Vanderlinde exhaust on it... Seems a bit high to me..but its really nice

at the same time there is a R1200S for the same price same 5000km...

I love the look for the Boxer cup - but from what I have read the 1200 is the one to own...

Also found another Boxer cup for $8900 - Cnd - with 20K on it with bags....

Anyone's thoughts? greatly appreciated..:confus ed:

How will you use the bike, do you plan to carry a passenger/luggage?

The R1200 is good or long trips, short trips, commuting, or doing track days. But not good for carrying a passenger. I recently installed the BMW sport panniers on mine, and went on a trip. They work well, i always have a large tail bag with camping gear too. But I never have a passenger.

another 2 cents worth...

Since my wife has no interest in riding with me anymore...I'd love to have an R12S...but I can't afford it. LOL

But my Gray/Mandarin R11S is a sweet ride. And when I go riding with some of my Ducati friends, they don't exactly leave me in the dust. On a track there would be a different story, I'm sure. But on public roadways the 11S does a fine job.

Summary, go for the 12!

I had to make the same choice a while back and went for the R12S and never looked back.
Take the Ohlins, wide rear wheel and abs model!

The R12S is just flat out a superior machine, IMHO. Lighter, more powerful with shockingly comfortable ergos (great seat-to-peg room) and a fantasticly engineered air/oil cooled twin with non-servo brakes. It's a great bike, no doubt.

The only reasons to buy a bcr over the R12S, IMHO, would be price or some desire to collect it (like b/c your dad raced one or something).

Get the 12. It's just "better".

PS: what he said about passengers. The 12 doesn't do passengers.

Welcome;
If you are in the Vancouver area, drop me a line.
If you do not need to carry a passenger or luggage, get the HP2S.

Cheers

Your 11s seems a bit high priced, even with options.

I traded my wife's R1150RT for an R1200S (for me) and gave her my R1100S. Both are great bikes but the 12 is more sport than touring, the 11 more touring than sport. We're both happy with our bikes and I did not want the 11 to leave the family.

Ride both and decide.

Can ride up here still up to our butt in snow...

The dealer who has the 12 - had another $800 PDI to add to the bill.. plus another 13% taxes...

I will see if i can move the 5k boxer guy down...

If I had a chance to do it over again, I would have bought the R1200S. I never have anyone on the back.

All that being said, I'd probably be in the same position I'm in right now though...trying to decide if I'm going to sell to get a R1200R or GS. Too many problems with my elbows (genetics) to enjoy the Sport Touring position for more than 6hrs in a day, and needing atleast one or two days in between.

I think there is still one at Pacific BMW...........but it's an ex race bike and kind of rough.
There might still be a new one at the dealer in Saskatchewan.
You should be able to find an HP2 Sport in Canada quite easily as there was a whopping 40 imported.

Where are you located?

The ergo's are fine for me, although not always ideal when riding in heavy traffic, but otherwise really great. Still love it though!

comments regarding higher prices in canada

assumming that the bike was a canadian delivered model.

the used bikes in canada will demand a higher price, very few r11s and r12s for that matter were sold here, and the initial prices were way higher than the usa prices.

now that the cdn $ and the USD are the same, it may seem that the prices should be the same, but when we paid a 50% or greater premium to buy them, i don't give rats ass what the dealer thinks its worth, he's not getting it... they try and steal at the usd price
