Symptom of Thottle Bodies Needing Sync'ed

Have a '04 R1100S that starts and runs fine down the road. However, under heavy throttle, there is hesitation (not as pronounced as if coil stick out) and will "pop" on a regular basis upon a quick flick of the wrist.

Thought it was bad gas but all that has been ran out and 4 spark plugs changed. Plugs looked fine.

Valves and throttle bodies sycned at BMW shop 5-6K miles OK and from my experience with an RT, valves should not get out of wrack at 6K.

Buddy and I did sync throttle bodies with merc sticks to reduce an high idle 4-5 months ago but frankly, not sure if it was done right.

QUESTION: What are the symptoms of throttle bodies not being in sycn? What I am describing a "classic case" of throttle bodies out of wack?

Thank you,
Nathan

There are a ton of threads on the vibration in the handlebars and the fuel injection surging that you experience when the throttlebodies are out.

If you're getting that popping that is maybe better known as "pinging" or detonation from lean burning, consider changing your air filter if you haven't. I think I've discovered the bike that I rode for 5000 miles than blew up was all the lean combustion that came from a clogged K&N. Stupidly, I never considered it being the culprit of all the pinging until I pulled the filter out during the teardown.

Synching helped to cure surging at 3k-4k @ steady throttle but I don't know any other symptoms. Just synch them--not that difficult! Do a search for many helpful threads here.

Here's an article on synching. If I can do it, so can you! Good luck!

If you have a clogged air filter then it will not get enough air causing it to run rich not lean.

If it is running rich or lean the O2 sensor will detect it and adjust the mixture accordingly.

When the mirrors start vibrating at idle its time. This is just my experience but its a clear cut symptom I get now and then.
