Absolutely stunning yesterday as the bikes, often in small packs, breezed the Richard Russell, Wolf Pen, 180, 60, and 129 connectors and pavement remained smooth, clean, and perfect. My same old, same old, R11S.........just did the same again and in my heart I was as if 35 again, proof that motorcycles are good for us, in our time of aging needs. Especially provocative were the groups of single cylinder moto bikes with fat race tires that carried so much speed thru the corners that I could not believe it for the street, as compared to the days back then. This whole part of Georgia is being snapped up by those who don't want to be "in the city" when it all comes down. The richness of Nature and it's wonders surround this area of the country and the roads are some of the very best for car, bicycle, motorcycle, or trike. T.W.O. looked like it was open Sunday, but only a few bikes were there, so they may no longer be operating. I found myself dreaming yesterday................. of getting hold of a BMW 1000R four cylinder, setting it in rain mode and the lowest engine power setting.........and just seeing what it feels like. As if. Oh well, dreams are good for the soul as well as the actual ride itself is, so why not mix the two. Looking back, now, I have come to appreciate Henry Ford even more for his quote that still sticks with me, in that: "A persons reputation is not built on what they plan to do." Drive Gud! Ave Fund!

Who remembers outside peg vs inside peg? That was quite the thread!

I sure remember the thread......... and thank goodness, when I take my old "White Dog" 77 airhead out to play, which, admittedly, is not very often...........I still drive it that same way, finding that when playing in the tighter stuff..........I can keep the airhead's, heads, higher off the pavement if I try and let my body mass contact point remain as low on the moving bike as possible while apexing a given corner. I do this by learning to use the inside peg as a mass point contact during those moments of more lean.
I surely know how to weight the outside peg.........but seldom need to because of the bikes I ride. A upright inline, UJM, four cylinder with its cam and valve system placed high on the bike, can require that one shift quickly in the tight stuff, from a inside weight to a outside weight, because the arc of movement that the heaver bike weight up top requires......means a swing suddenly back another direction......and one can help this occur by getting weight or mass point to the outside peg. Thanks for the memory sharing and all the images its reimposes. Thoughts? |

Enter: me.
I still remember the first time I laid eyes on a R/W/B BCR around 2005 when I was 23 years old. My immediate thought was "that's the friggin' most gorgeous bike I've ever seen. I have to own one some day." Fast forward to now. I'm 34 and just made my dream come true and am just awaiting a 2005 R/W/B BCR with 8,500 miles an Ohlins suspension to be shipped to me. I feel like a child on Christmas morning. It'll be here in about a month. Expect a new thread and copious amounts of photos when it arrives. PS: Please don't hate me - I own a Harley, too. ![]()

Nothing wrong with the right Harley!
(When you want to make a lot of noise and pretend you're going fast!! ![]() And I find this retro BMW is the perfect complement to it. ![]() Of course, since this is a BMW R1100S / R1200S / HP2S board... ![]()

there's lot of them around here (military town) and those boys often race each other off the light. the amount of thunder doesn't match anything even remotely close to the speed of lightning. lots and lots and lots of noise, yet the forward motion...well...it's one of those "wait for it....." things. they're still fun to ride though. you can make all that noise, but everything including acceleration, still occurs in a deep south, kicked back, mellow mode. taint nuttin' bad 'bout dat.

The Right Harley
Only Harley I think I would own if they made a street version.
![]() ![]() I think they are missing some sales by not offering a model decked out like this one even if it is a poser. |

I haven't tested it yet, but what I'm reading is that this thing is faster than the R1200S... Will find out some time this summer.

Bob-
It is like being in school, you have to pay attention or you will miss something.

That's the puzzle Rick I'm usually pretty good at paying attention and for me to miss CK getting a new bike is a mystery indeed. Besides I like that retro look. My R1200R with the R90S fairing was sweet. And it was fast. Lots of opportunity to spend money on this one, and we love that don't we?
