Forth and back-TOR '16

The trip this year would include 'The Beekeeper' and 'The Romulan' on the way to TOR. The Beekeeper would head home after the rally while I continued on to Kansas City.





Day 1-To Maryhill State Park, WA 246 miles

Chinook Pass in Mt. Rainier Nat. Park was cool and wet in places-

First camp, home for the night-

Day 2-Going to Dixie,WA 210 miles

Why I love traveling the backroads, the exposure to local color-



I don't remember stock yards along the Columbia R. but they are there now-



I played photo tag with the train for a few miles until I found this crossing-

Day 3-Together again we set off for Seeley Lake,MT 377 miles

Farm roads to Starbuck and the oldest territorial jail in WA-



The Spiral Hwy.(Old Hwy. 95) out of Lewiston, ID. Really impossible for me to capture how it snakes its way up the mountain-



The Beekeeper's sharp eyes caught this jewel-

We arrived in Seeley Lake to find all the campgrounds full in the area so a motel would have to make do for the night.

Day 4-The whole day was Glacier Nat. Park ending at Cutback campground five miles down a dirt road in MT 170 miles

Lake McDonald is the main reason Ralf lives the US. I don't know which shot I like better-

Going-to-the-sun-road is all about the scenery but a forest fire somewhere took its toll on the air quality-

Day 4 cont.-

Logan Pass-



Another satisfying day ends with a nice sunset at the camp site-

Man, that is some beautiful country. I really want to make that trip one day.

We decided on a more northern route this year. One does not really have to bend my arm to get me to go to GNP....

Day 5-South to Devil's Elbow CG near Helena, MT 275 miles

Good morning-



Weather looked iffy but didn't rain-



I saw a fox in this area but a Jeep scared it off before I could get my camera-



Two Medicine Lake and a waterfall with an outlet in the cliff. Ralf said it comes over the top too when there is enough water flowing-





Southbound looked good but behind there were still clouds chasing us-





We drove a two lane road along a river that parallels I-15 between Great Falls and Helena. I have been trying to find the road for 40 years after seeing someones photo. Finally get to cross it off my list-



Starting to suspect Ralf was a Calvin Klein underwear model in a former life-
