Alternator problem
I have a 2004 Boxter S. A week ago the alternator light came on in the car. I checked the voltage at the battery while the car was running at it read 14.2. With the car stopped the battery read 12.5. Everything seemed to be working fine but I pulled the alternator and had it rebuilt. I reinstalled it today and the alternator light still comes on. I'm not sure where to look next and I haven't seen anyone else in the forums with a similar problem. Suggestions on what the problem could be?
Thanks, Dave

Who rebuilt it and what did they replace? If they didn't replace the voltage regulator that would probably be your issue.

yes, they replaced the voltage regulator. I'm confident the alternator and voltage regulator is working properly.
I believe the blue wire attached to the alternator controls the dummy light. I assume if that is broken than I would the problem I'm describing. Can anyone confirm that?

The idiot light is powered and the voltage regulator provides the ground when the alternator is not working.
