Boxster Script Question??????
I am looking at a Boxster, but it is missing the rear script. The owner said the Boxster was ordered without the script to prevent holes from being drilled into the rear decklid. Was the script on the back of a Boxster "glued" on or were holes drilled into the rear lid to attach it? I thought the newer Porsche scripts were "glued on" to avoid the drilling of holes in the decklid. Could be wrong, but this is my first Boxster and I have only owned vintage Porsches.
Thanks! |

INteresting question. My boxster too had the "designation delete" no cost option as well. Never looked under a trunk that had the script to confirm how it was attached.

I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure... the designation is glued on...

There are no holes. It is double -faced tape. That is why it is easy to remove.

glued on.
The last "screwed on" model was the 1983 911 SC AFJ

Definately glued on; the fasteners added too much additional weight to the rear of the car (hah, I'm a 911 guy!)

Thanks!
Thanks to all for answering my question. I have decided not to purchase a Boxster and go for the vintage 911.
